Beetje Brewery Moving Along

The cooler is cut, no turning back!
We recently checked in on the progress at Beetje Brewery, or at least that is still the name.  With the new location on SE Stephens, a name change will come later, but the farmhouse ales will keep coming with the consistency and great flavor that you have come to appreciate.  Owner/Brewer Mike Wright has been brewing on a small system in his garage for awhile now and because his Urban Farmhouse Ale and other products have been sought out by several bars and restaurants, production needed to increase and a new facility had to be found.  With most equipment in place and proper licenseing almost done, it is easy to see his vision in the vaulted warehouse that will soon be a brewery.

Working!
The office desk is a barrel

Josh Grgas of Beer Mongers fame was the first person to introduce us to Mike Wright.  He would talk about how Mike got his start and his farmhouse preferences.  Josh also introduced Mike to Derek Arent (yes, that guy), a Portland area yeast genius, who has inspired Mike's yeast use.

Little Brother has always been a Portland Beer and Music favorite (feel free to pressure Mike into making more), but the flagship beer Urban Farmhouse is the best place to start in the Beetje line up.  The beer, which has gone through some name changing and recipe tweeking is a great example of a farmhouse style that can have balance, flavor and dryness, while brewed in an urban setting.  If you have hophead friends who to need to have their beer horizons expanded, get them to Beetje for a great gateway beer that will open a new world.  The walk-in cooler has been cut and is ready for the lines to start flowing with impressive beer.  When the brewery opens, you can expect glass pours and growler fills, with more services on the horizon.

FILL, FILL, FILL!

  1. Yeast genius?!? what? You'd laugh loudly... then regret you wrote that, then laugh some more if you saw my setup and procedures. I'd save that term for someone like Al B or Chad from Crooked Stave.
