Matt has captured some of the greatest moments in brewing history, by not only having a good eye, but by practice. His past photos are displayed around town, like at Laurelwood. This show will encompass people and beer and I believe that it will showcase some of the difficult work that brewers do in order to bring us beer.
Though, some of the following statements are not confirmed, most are true and Matt will tell you himself that he didn't start his life on Earth. We are not sure where he came from, but one day, while about 15 he appeared in the jungle and had an artistic eye right away. Instead of looking for food and shelter, he killed a colorful bird in order to harvest hues to make a sort of paint. He then replicated the images that he saw in the jungle. He was an artist! Matt was captured by poachers...they mistook him for something other than human. The hunters brought him to Portland, OR, and in 2003ish and he started PortlandBeer.org. The site is dedicated to providing the public with everything that they need to know about beer in and around Oregon. Event listings are updated regularly and it is always entertaining to see the, "Fermented Photos." I promise that you can get lost for days starring at the beer photography in Matt's collection. So come to Gigantic Gallery on Thursday and join Matt, artists, beer writers, brewers, art appreciators and have a taste of Deschutes Chainbreaker White IPA, while you take a photographic tour of the most important people around....your brewer.

Gigantic Gallery Presents The Art of Beer in Portland
Beer is happening all around us in Portland: brewing, fermenting, kegging, bottling, drinking, and barrel-aging are only some of the forms that beer takes. This October, Gigantic Gallery presents Of Pints and Men, a month long show dedicated entirely to the art of beer through photography, paintings, and illustrations. Come celebrate the art of beer with local artists: photographer Matt Wiater from portlandbeer.org, painter Ian Seniff, illustrator and designer Jonathon Hill-Jacquard, and photographer John Carleton.
